NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assesment at Work, is an introductry level qualification that looks at health and safety risk management at work and the process to be adopted for control health and safety risks caused by workplace hazards
This unit is divided into the following three key elements:
1-Why manage health and safety risks
2-Managing risk:
- Identifying and understanding the risks
Managing risk
- Controlling the risks
3-Managing risk:
- Sources of information and the application of HSE risk assessment tools

On completion of the course, learners will:
- Understand that risk management is about taking practical steps to protect people from real harm and suffering rather than a bureaucratic back covering exercise.
- Understand how to identify hazards that may need controlling and the resources that can be used to assist in this.
- Use simple, HSE tools and methods to confidently manage risk in a low to medium risk premises
- Evaluate risks in a proportionate and sensible manner
The NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work is ideal for anyone involved in managing workplace health and safety risks including those who undertake risk assessments. The content will be particularly useful to employers, managers, supervisors, union representatives, SHE champions and health and safety representatives.
Assessments are available in English only
There are no entry requirements for this qualification,
However, it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus for English trainings and exam.
NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.
A practical assessment is completed at the end of this one- day qualification. You will be asked to watch a video of a real workplace and complete a risk assessment to identify how you would manage and prioritize the risks present.
All assessments are held on a date chosen by your Learning Partner. You should contact them for more information.
Exams cannot be postponed or cancelled after the registration deadline. If you cannot take the exam due to any excuse, you can request a refund of 10% of your exam fee by reporting your excuse with official documents.
You will receive your results within 24 working days of sitting the assessments. Once you have achieved a pass a qualification parchment will be issued. This is normally within 40 working days of the confirmation of the successful unit.
NTSS will provide slides and a digital workbook. The tuition hours should be added to the recommended private study hours to give the minimum number of hours that this mode of study will require.
- After the purchase is completed and the payment is made, the login information to the education platform is sent to the student via e-mail within 24 hours.
- After the login information is sent to the student, the Education platform is open to the student for 30 calendar days.
- There is no live narration on the education platform. All educational materials are accessible to the student 24/7.
- It is compulsory to take the exam within 2 months after registration. Otherwise, the training must be re-purchased.

Each student is assigned a tutor with whom they can communicate and receive support. The tutor can be reached via e-mail.
Questions from learners will be answered within 24 hours, except for force majeure. The time outside the working hours on the weekend is not included in the 24 hours.
